#280. Meredith Wendell

Former Marc Jacobs designer and fellow Lewisburg native Meredith German has a new accessories line called Meredith Wendell. Each piece contains vintage glass medallions - the same found in the original Tiffany & Co. lamps. According to Meenal Mistry's Style.com article, German "attributes her highly attuned color sense to a childhood in Lewisburg, West Virginia, a town with a Dorothy Draper-designed resort and denizens; indeed, the grandparents who raised her dressed daily in their bright, eclectic best." She calls her aesthetic "uptown awkward, " but I don't find anything awkward about it. Prices range from $245 to $945.

Well, I've taken the plunge. Today is my first day Coke free. I've given it up for good. We'll see how I feel during my 8AM class tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Mrs. O Pays Tribute to Senator Kennedy

Hello, Bo!

Bo Obama in Martha's Vineyard waiting to climb aboard Air Force One!

Do you think Bo has a middle name? He and Elle would get along perfectly! I think they should meet.

Love This!

Poll: Dog Costumes

Two summers ago, I made Eloise a pair of pearls. My father about had a heart attack, but I thought she looked pretty cute.

Last Christmas, I found Mrs. Claus costumes at Target and bought two for Eloise and Charlotte. I'm usually anti-dog costume, but I thought the girls looked funny and adorable! They definitely provided some holiday entertainment. So my question is, are dog costumes funny and acceptable or cruel and inappropriate? Vote in the poll on the right side of the page!

Old Soul, New Heart is an accessories company founded by a mother and daughter that is "a collection of meticulously hand-crafted accessories that breathe new life into vintage finds and unique pieces." Here are a few of my favorite pieces:

#11. Not Fabulous: Huckabee's Inappropriate Words Regarding Senator Kennedy's Death

Many conservatives have been claiming that Democrats have used Senator Kennedy's death as a way to pass Obama's health care plan. On Thursday, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee suggested on his radio show that under Obama's plan, Senator Kennedy would have been urged to "go home to take pain pills and die" during the past year. He said, "It was President Obama himself who suggested that seniors who don't have as long to live might want to consider just taking a pain pill instead of getting an expensive operation to cure them...Yet when Sen. Kennedy was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at 77, did he give up on life and go home to take pain pills and die? Of course not. He freely did what most of us would do. He choose an expensive operation and painful follow up treatments. He saw his work as vitally important and so he fought for every minute he could stay on this earth doing it. He would be a very fortunate man if his heroic last few months were what future generations remember him most for."

I find this offensive and inappropriate. No Democrat or Republican would urge anyone to "go home to take pain pills and die." Let's not tarnish this time of mourning for a great man.

#10. Not Fabulous: Marc Jacobs Scrunchie Shoes

Dear Marc,

I appreciate your ability to incorporate hair accessories into your footwear. Unfortunately, scrunchies are not the answer. I burned them after 5th grade for a reason. Perhaps you put them on these shoes to disguise the ugliness that is the suede wedgy-thing underneath. There is no way in hell I'd spend $454.00 on these suckers.

Love,

ATF
