I learned from Unabashedly Prep that the album cover is a Polaroid of a girl named Kristen from 1983. The guys of VW found it by searching photos from 1983 on the internet after Rostam Batmanglij, a member of the band, watched a movie on Basquiat and was inspired by the era.
